The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ogun State has moved to contain internal tensions, formally distancing itself from a purported “Apex Committee” and warning members against engaging with what it described as an unauthorized structure.
In a statement signed by the state chairman, Femi Soluade, and the state secretary, Adebiyi Olusoji, the party made it clear that the so-called committee is not part of its constitutional framework and should be disregarded entirely.
The clarification comes amid growing concerns over parallel power structures within the party, with the leadership emphasizing that any directives or information from the group are invalid and not binding on members or stakeholders.
In a related development, the party disclosed that the contest for the position of Deputy Financial Secretary between Dimeji Fabiyi and Rotimi George-Taylor has been suspended by the National Executive Committee (NEC), pending further guidance. The move suggests an attempt by the national leadership to de-escalate tensions and maintain order within the party structure.
Despite the suspension, the ADC confirmed that screening of aspirants and other congress activities will proceed as scheduled, reinforcing its commitment to continuity and adherence to due process.
The development underscores ongoing internal recalibrations within the party in Ogun State, as leadership seeks to assert control, maintain unity, and ensure that its congresses are conducted in line with established rules and democratic principles.
