......Speaker calls on Farmers to Visit Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security For Subsidized Farming Equipment.
Edo State House of Assembly has passed a Bill for a Law to provide for a Revised Edition of Laws of Edo State and the Preparation, Printing and Publications of the Revised Laws of Edo State and for other matters incidental thereto at Wednesday's plenary.
The Passage of the Bill is Sequel to it's accelerated proceedings at Plenary, where Rule 20 of the House was invoked and Rule 46 relaxed to allow for speedy passage due to the importance of the Bill to Governance.
Speaker, Rt Hon Chief Blessing Sheriff Agbebaku thanked members for their usual support and Cooperation.
During Debate on the Executive Bill, the House Majority Leader, Hon Jonathan Ibhamawu explained that the Bill is timely and germane, as legal Practioners , citizens, legislators and Government institutions were finding it difficult to Access the Laws of the state.
Hon Ibhamawu stressed that the timely passage of the Bill will Codify all existing laws of the State into one central Document for easy access.
Other Members who spoke in support of the Bill include Member Representing Ovia North East 1 Hon Charity Aiguobarueghian, Member Representing Esan North East 1, Hon Adeh Isibor, Member Representing Esan North East 2, Rt Hon Maria Edeko, and Member Representing Akoko -Edo 2 ,Hon Donald Okogbe, asserted the importance of the Bill as it would be a working Document for easy Dispensation of Justice.
They were also of the opinion that it would create a central Hub for laws of the State, close the gap in law making and reduce the duplication of Laws in the state.
The Speaker thereafter Directed the Clerk of the House, Alhaji Audu Yahaya Omogbai to make clean copies available for the assent of the Governor, Distinguished Senator Monday Okpebholo.
Also at Plenary, the Bill for a Law to Establish and Regulate Edo State Fire Fighting Service, provide for the Organization's functions and duties of the Fire Service, to ensure preservation of lives,properties and the environment in Fire control and rescue Operations, uphold Human Rights Standard and Other Connected Purposes was debated on.
After a Robust Debate on the pros of the Bill, the Speaker committed it to the Committee on Environment and Security for scrutiny and to report back to the House in two weeks.
Under other announcements by Speaker, Rt Hon Chief Blessing Sheriff Agbebaku, urged all Farmers in the State to take advantage of the Procurement of Farming Equipment in the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security and hire farm equipment.
The Speaker emphasized that for improved yields this farming Season, the Farmers should use the opportunity provided by the state Government to hire equipment at subsidized rates .
