The Fusengbuwa Ruling House in Ijebu Ode has rejected the purported removal of its Chairman, Otunba Abdulateef A. Owoyemi, describing the meeting where the decision was taken as illegal and a kangaroo meeting.

The ruling house made this known on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at a press conference in Ijebu Ode addressed by Owoyemi, Chairman/Olori-Ebi of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House.

The Grand Council alleged that some members held an unauthorised meeting on Sunday, August 9, 2026, where they purportedly removed Owoyemi, Deputy Chairman Otunba Oladokun Ajidagba and Vice-Chairman Professor Fassy Adetokunboh Yusuf.

The council identified Adeleke Adeyemi, Muyiwa Adeleye, Ridwan Oduneye and Olusegun Olusoga, alongside other individuals, as being behind the purported action and fact-finding committee.

According to the council, the ruling house previously had three factions but became unified following the intervention of the Ogun State Government. The process subsequently produced Owoyemi as Chairman/Olori-Ebi, Ajidagba as Deputy Chairman/Igbakeji Olori-Ebi and Yusuf as Vice-Chairman/Eta Olori-Ebi.

The council said four delegates from each of the three factions initially made up 12 delegates to the Ogun State Government. The 12 were later constituted into a Management Committee, while three others were co-opted, bringing the Grand Council to 15 members.

It maintained that none of those behind the purported meeting was a member of the Grand Council and therefore had no authority to convene a meeting or set up any committee on behalf of the ruling house.

The council alleged that the activities of the group, if not challenged, could disrupt the family and overturn its entitlement to the Awujale throne. It also disclosed that legal action was being taken over alleged defamation, innuendos and the conduct of those involved.

In its resolutions, the Grand Council declared the alleged impostors, their accomplices and members of the purported fact-finding committee “enemies of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House.” It also urged the government and the general public to disregard any resolutions or allegations emanating from them and passed a vote of confidence in Owoyemi, Ajidagba and Yusuf.

The council appealed to mainstream and social media organisations to be circumspect in their reporting, urging journalists to verify information before publication and leave out information they could not verify. It also warned against reports that could tarnish the name of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House and urged the media to beware of defamation and cyber-stalking.
