Police arrest 8 over alleged murder in Edo


Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have arrested eight suspects over the alleged murder of two persons in the state.


Four of the suspects were arrested in connection with the alleged murder of one Chief Saturday, while four others were arrested over the alleged killing of an unidentified driver following a minor argument.


The command’s spokesperson, ASP Eno Ikoedem, said the police received information about the discovery of the lifeless body of Chief Saturday in Ajife community, Ovia South-West Local Government Area.


She said operatives of the Marine Police were mobilised to the community, where they arrested Daniel Babatunde, Abraham Mumini, David Michael and Godwin Moses, all from Ajife community, in connection with the alleged murder.


She said the suspects were tracked down and arrested before being transferred to the Homicide Unit for further investigation and prosecution.


Eno further disclosed that the police arrested four other persons over the alleged murder of a driver following a minor motor accident.


She said an argument ensued after the accident, adding that one Idugie Emmanuel called his friends, who arrived at the scene and allegedly assaulted the other driver, leaving him unconscious.


According to her, the victim was rushed to a hospital, where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor.


She identified the suspects arrested in connection with the death as Idugie Emmanuel, Odion Bondilum, Sunday Afeaya and Osazee Friday.


Eno assured that the suspects would be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.
